Classes resume as normal on Saturday 19th May and I will be bringing in some sample uniform in different sizes for your children to try on (if you are wanting to order it)

Have a great 2 weeks and I look forward to seeing you all on the 19th!

Parents Meeting 29/02/2012 @David Lloyd

Thank you to those who were able to attend the parents meeting at David Lloyd last Wednesday, it was the first of many (I hope) I am proposing that we hold a meeting the first Wednesday of every quarter.  Next one April.  It's a way for us to touch base, catch up, answer any questions and generally share ideas/feedback.

Here are the minutes from the meeting.

Disney Paris, Future Cheer Comps - Proposed that these are left until 2013 so we can get more competition/confidence under our belts and have the students experience more difficult competitions to avoid complacency when placing.

Competitions - The next competition that we are looking to attend is the BCA Internationals in Telford, Sunday 8th July 2012. We will take a coach and travel on the day.  All students will be doing the same dances with amendments made as per the last score card.  Children who are due to move groups will do so in September. IT WILL ALSO NOW BE MANDATORY THAT AS SOON AS WE ANNOUNCE A COMPETITION, WITHIN 3 WEEKS YOU MUST PLACE A NON-REFUNDABLE £25 DEPOSIT FOR YOUR CHILD. THIS WILL THEN BE REDEEMED AGAINST YOUR ENTRY FEES.  IF YOU RE-TRACT FROM THE COMPS, THAT MONEY WILL BE USED TO BUY REHEARSAL TIME FOR THE EXISTING STUDENTS FOR CHANGES THAT NEED TO BE MADE TO THE ROUTINES.

*** THERE WILL BE NO COMPETITIONS ENTERED BETWEEN SEPT-DEC MOVING FORWARD, THIS IS DUE TO MOVEMENT BETWEEN GROUPS ***

Uniform - It is now mandatory for students to wear full uniform (joggers, tees & hoodies) to class EVERY week.  Classes are a week apart so no excuses for not wearing the appropriate clothing.  Pumps or trainers to be worn.  I am in the process of pricing up shorts for summer months.  Also I am looking at body wraps to go under our cheer uniforms. More info to follow.

Class fees - After the Easter holidays, class fees will be due monthly.  This can be done by standing order or by cash (you will be given a receipt) If I have to cancel a class, you will be refunded the next month, if you miss a class no refund will be given.

Class changes to dates - We are trying to put all classes on 1 day to utilise pm, our coaches properly.  The proposed date will be a Monday and I am looking to change this first week back after Easter.  Youth classes will continue 5-6:30pm, Junior classes will be 6:30-8pm, Senior classes will be 8-9:30pm.  Please bear with me for confirmation on this.

Fundraising/Events - A fund raising commitee  has now been set up, we will be meeting every 6 weeks or so. We will be raising money towards cheer comps, apparatus and other things that we need.  If you have any suggestions please post them on here or preferably on the facebook group.  We are looking for schools that are organising events/summer fairs to give the students performance confidence and routine rehearsals.

Google email address - as mentioned, I have asked all parents to take the time to set up a googlemail account for the purpose of cheerleading! You can make it easier by having your email address as your childs name followed by mum/dad! EG Ollysmum@googlemail.com that way you can leave feedback on any comments on the blog.  The blog has been designed as a way to pass information to parents and students and create a discussion board.

If I have missed anything, please comment below!

Shall we compete at DIsney Land Paris in 2013?

Parents and Students.

This morning I have been researching cheerleading competitions with other affiliations other than the BCA and came across Future Cheer.

They run a cheerleading competition called "Take us 2 the Stars" at Disney Land Paris!!

The competitions run in March and the one off price package include 2 nights stay B&B at a Disney Hotel, 3 days park entry, all entry fees for as many sections as we want, trophies, spectator tickets., free transfers from hotel to competition site & back.

The price this year was:-
1 adult & 1 child - £497
1 adult & 2 children - £683
2 adults - £589
2 adults & 1 child - £706
3 adults - £800
(children over 12 at time of travel qualify as an adult)

Flights/euro star not included.

http://futurecheer.co.uk/forms/Paris%20Comp%20Exclusive_Event_Packages.pdf

I am seeing if you are interested in us doing this as our Sole competition next year?  If so we can start a savers club now to avoid a hefty cost all at once.

I think it would be a fantastic experience for all!

Please send thoughts to thefunkyphantomettes@googlemail.com

NEW HOODIES & JOGGING BOTTOMS

I AM CURRENTLY TAKING ORDERS THAT WILL BE HERE IN TIME FOR THE COMPETITIONS.  IF YOU WANT TO ORDER ANYTHING ALL ORDERS NEED TO BE PLACED BY SUNDAY 19TH FEBRUARY AT THE LATEST & MONEY NEEDS TO BE BOUGHT IN BY TUESDAY NEXT WEEK. (21ST FEB)

I have decided to opt against the diamante jogging suits after speaking to a number of suppliers.  The main reason for this is, they are not happy to rectify any items that lose diamonds that come off, when they are costing so much, I expect this as a minimum.

Therefore we are sticking with our old faithful print but have modernised it!

We have now changed to a Cheer & Street Academy so the design of the hoodies have changed.  We are now have zip ups.  Also our tee's will now be white and we have jogging bottoms!!

Packages that are available.

Childrens.
Printed hoodies with name on - £15.00

Hi Everyone

Here is an itinerary for the weekend!

Those going on the coach, we are being collected at 10:30am from the Church carpark next to Chellaston Academy on Swarkestone Road, Chellaston.  The trip should take 3-3.5 hours (allowing for a stop off).

Unfortunately all spectator tickets for the saturday have sold out.  If you haven't got one, then I am suggesting that on arrival to Wales, we report straight to the hotel & check in, then the coach will drop us all off in Newport.  You may want to go shopping, go for food etc.

You will then need to find your own way back to the hotel (taxi in large groups is probably safest option)

On the Sunday morning everyone needs to be on the coach by 9am. If you are not there by 9:05am, the coach will leave without you and you will need to make your own way to the arena.

Running order on Sunday 26th February 2012.

ARRIVAL FOR 9:30AM TO THE ARENA.  READY TO SET UP BASE. IT IS HALF TERM THIS WEEK, PLEASE ENTERTAIN YOUR CHILDREN BY GETTING THEM TO MAKE LARGE GOOD LUCK POSTERS.

10:51am - Senior Non-Tumble Duet - Beth & Harriet
11:34am - Youth Dance Hip Hop - Monday night class
11:58am - Junior Dance Hip Hop - Tuesday night class
12:22pm - Senior Dance Hip Hop - Elite
2pm - Youth Dance Pom - Monday night class
2:12pm - Junior Dance Pom - Tuesday night class

Any questions, please email them over to thefunkyphantomettes@googlemail.com

Many Thanks

FUND RAISING DISCO IN CONJUCTION WITH ENTHUSIASM!

*** ALL YEAR 6-9 STUDENTS ***

Heather from Enthusiasm has organised a disco on Saturday 21st January 7-9pm at Base 2 (above Heron Foods) by the Spider Island in Allenton as a fund raiser.

She has invited us cheerleaders that fall with in the year 6 to year 9 bracket.  It only costs £1 per person to go and is fully supervised by CRB enhanced cleared chaperones!

Any money made from ticket sales by the Funky Phantomettes means we can put it towards coach hire for the BCA's to bring costs down.

If you'd like to go all you need to do is bring in £1 on Tuesday and I will give you a ticket for you and your friends.  You may take your school friends and boys may come too as there is stuff for them to do there other than dance!!

Don't worry you can also pay on the door!

Thanks

Lorrraine & Heather!
